eco-friendly wedding invitations + eco-friendly printing
I guess I'm on a paper kick this week...For your wedding invitations, depending on how much you want to do yourself, be it all or nothing, there are definitely eco invitation options out there for you. Way more companies stepping up with chic tree-free, and other eco-friendly printing and eco-friendly invitation options then last year when I was finishing my book Eco-Chic Weddings. Let me just say, I'm a traditionalist when it comes to paper, so I can be hard to please (hey, I used to work for Martha Stewart, after all!) I am not a fan of the seeds and petals in the paper thing. If you are, that's fine, it's your party...but here...
A few companies I like who are doing the right thing:
Botanical Paperworks
Greener Printer
Invitesite
Naturally Ever After
Earthly Affair
Oblation Papers + Press
Bella Figura
If you know of any, please tell me!
And another thing:
Unfortunately, some invite companies aren't "on-board" yet...But, Crane & Co. does have a history of responding with
innovative solutions to market changes. In recent years, Crane's explored possible markets for nonwoven
materials and alternative fiber papers using flax and hemp in an ongoing effort to create tree-free papers. It would be awesome if this U.S. company (one of the oldest) started to lead the way in using alternative papers for their gigantic wedding invitation business. Don't you agree? Especially since they have so many beautiful designs...

I LOVE paper ideas - especially when they are eco friendly :) thanks for a few great links!
I don't know if this link will help you or not, but I thought I would post anyways!

I completely agree, i have an online shop where we sell eco-friendly designer greeting cards, and we use 100% recycled paper. I wish more companies, especially the larger ones would be more mindful and make the change. This is the reason why i started my company in this direction, TO HELP MAKE OTHER AWARE and hopefully inspire them to change.
Please check out my work, would love to be featured here so your readers can get to know more about these issues...thanks!

I'm so glad to see someone writing about this! I have a custom invitation business, and have seen so much paper waste over the years. I have shifted my focus to eco-friendly invitations (yet stylish and not hippie looking) by offering recycled paper options, soy based inks and reply postcards to eliminate reply envelopes. I am hoping more and more brides will be selecting the eco-friendly options.

I too am an invitation designer and have been printing on recycled papers for over 4 years now. I have seen a HUGE demand for recycled invites in the past year. I love mixing modern design with recycled materials. I am glad the trend is catching on!

I totally agree with you. I am the owner of an eco friendly wedding invitation business I launched earlier this year. Here's my welcome: "Beauty, Excellence & Authenticity:
Our Happy Wedding Day provides the modern bride with high-style stationery that gracefully balances artistic elegance with sustainability. Our innovative designs attract the creative and contemporary, and our eco-friendly products ensure peace of mind to the environmentally conscious."

I believe more companies are slowly getting on board. I am also one of the owners of an invitations and announcements business, JaydaOnline.com. A few months ago, we went back and revamped the entire line to make it eco-friendly. Our invitations, enclosures, and envelopes are either tree-free or recycled–even our ribbons are made out of natural fibers. I think people are finally realizing that they don't have to give up style to be environmentally conscious.

Help! I'd like to do a nice herbal bouquet but I can't find any aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Thoughts?
